Navy Wife shared this on facebook a couple months ago when her husband deployed and it really hit home. I never thought that I would be jealous of my friends whose husbands were deploying, especially because we were on Shore Duty the first 2 years & blessed that Matt was never gone longer than 3 or 4 weeks at a time... but alot of the women I met in Lemoore sent their husbands off last month and I was jealous... jealous that they have gotten to be with them these last 5 months and jealous that they should be home in 6-9 months instead of in 20... Of course the Negative Nancy in me was only here for a couple days & I was able to be happy for them that they will not be going thru the same separation that we've been cursed with :) I am surprised at all the crazy emotions I get sometimes, haha. buuuuut at the end of the day I can not say it enough, I am proud to be my husbands wife & proud of all the women I know standing behind their men during deployments and time apart!

2 more months...

Its been almost 2 months since I last updated... The holidays were awesome... of course, Matt wasn't here to open presents with us Christmas morning or to kiss me at midnight on New Years, but of course I was thinkin' about him! We are almost 5 months down... I can't believe it. Time just keeps movin' along and we're getting closer and closer to being together again :) We have been able to skype and text regularly, so that helps close the distance a little bit, too.

One piece of REALLY EXCITING NEWS... Matt and I are buying our first house... we close at the end of the month & will move shortly after... and we couldn't be happier. It is out in Rainbow up against the Estrella Mountains on an acre and a quarter... perfect for us! We have big dreams of a fence, covered parking, a huge shop & garage, a built in fire pit, and a wrap around porch... and all these things are possible with just a little more time and money... I can't wait! AND it's close to my parents, Matt's mama & sister and our nieces and nephews! JC will be moving with me again when the time comes.... thank goodness, I won't be living alone while Matty's gone!

...and it's the 15th again...

Not only does the 15th of each month mean that we're getting paid again, but it means that Matt has been gone another month :) Of course I'm not happy that he's been away so long, but we're that much closer to being done with these orders, and THAT makes me REALLY happy. From an outsiders point of view looking in, I would think that most people would assume that a distance like this would push us apart, but I honestly feel like its bringing us closer and closer each day that passes...Since Matty left, I've had some extra time on my hands and decided to start reading...

BOOK REPORT

Since the Harry Potter series, I haven't really been much of a reader, but since Matt left I've found myself lost in a couple books. First, I reread Chicken Soup for the Military Wife's Soul... I cried a dozen times over the many happy and sad moments the writers overcame during and after their lives as military wives. Reading about ppl's experiences made me grateful that I haven't had to deal with anything like that... and it made the pride that I have in my husband grow with each page that I turned.
Second, I read Love & Respect. This book describes a theory and lifestyle based on the way that God intended for marriage to be, based on his commands to husbands and wives; men are to unconditionally show love to their wives, and women are to unconditionally show respect to their husbands... I most definitely recommend this book to any married couple, it made me feel like I understand both Matt & myself better... and who doesn't want to live the way God intends for us to, especially in their marriage.

Lastly, I read the Twilight saga. When the books were first a huge hit, I REFUSED to jump on the bandwagon... I was a Harry Potter nerd, and I was okay with that... I didn't need to add vampires and werewolves to the mix. I watched the first movie when it came out on DVD, but that was the extent of my relationship with the saga... until last week. On Monday I visited my mom at work, and noticed that Twilight, Eclipse, & New Moon were on the used book sale shelf for a quarter a piece, so I bought them and started reading Twilight right away, I was HOOKED & couldn't stop... when I finished the third book, I drove to Wal-Mart and bought Breaking Dawn so I could start it that night... in 8 days I finished all 4 books, and am now a true Twilight fan. I understand the craze & am proud to admit that I am now an addict, and will probably reread the series again very soon :)

I haven't been up to much, as you can tell by the fact that I had enough time on my hands to read so much in the last week... but things are going good, and I am happy to say that time is going by quickly and smoothly. I am sad to have to spend the holidays away from Matt, but hopefully this will be the only Christmas we spend away from each other for the rest of our lives, and I can live with that.

Being Thankful

Be thankful for what you have; you'll end up having more. It hasn't been too bad, so far. Of course, I miss him like crazy, and our schedules are almost exactly the opposite, but we get to chat online every night, at about midnight our time (4pm his time, the next day). I've been staying busy with the family, and our friends... everyone has been super supportive. I am SO lucky to be surrounded by such loving people.

I can't believe that it has already been 2 weeks, I hope time keeps flying, I can't wait to see him again!

One thing that I have learned so far, is how the military has also blessed us with friends... friends all over the country & even around the world. I now have friends scattered everywhere... California, Arizona, Colorado, Arkansas, Texas, West Virginia, and many more states (I'm sure) and even in Atsugi, Japan. It blows my mind that I met these girls 2 years ago, and it feels like we've been friends for a lifetime. It is amazing that after just two years, we have effected each other's lives and taken care of each other in so many ways. We've been hands to hold, ears to listen, shoulders to cry on, and each others only support when we were far away from our families. It's something that other people just don't understand, but the Sorority of Military wives IS a family away from home and the friendship is so much deeper than JUST being friends. Here is a tribute to my military wifey friends... You are all so strong and beautiful, and I'm glad that we got to be together in Lemoore, and even though most of us were not happy there, and have moved away, we were able to have some fun, laugh some laughs, cry some crys and drink some drinks together.

^Me, Alisha & Tami, Alisha's Birthday in 2008 (I think) :)

^Toooo many of us to name, but Girls night at Sonya's

Steph (Currently in Arkansas), Amanda (I'm not sure where she is now...), Me (Currently in AZ), Crystal (currently in TX), Sonya & Alisha (Both currently stationed in Whidbey, Washington), Kassi (Currently in WV) & Anna (still in Lemoore).

This was my FIRST Friday in Lemoore, First Ladies Night @ Kassi's. I took Matt to the airport, so he could fly to Japan: where he will be for the next 25 months. Saying goodbye was devastating, and I can't imagine how in the world the next two years are going to be. It has only been about 36 hours since I saw him last, and I already miss him like crazy. This entire experience is VERY overwhelming, intimidating, and a tad bit scary. I love him and am PROUD to say that he is my husband, but these two years are going to be very hard and very trying... I'm lucky enough to know already though, that Matt and I are GOOD at long distance. We did long distance for 10 months before we got married, and that is VERY reassuring to me. AAAND now I have an excuse to travel to Japan, and for decent prices if I take a military flight, too! We have friends from Lemoore, which we both adored, that live in base housing there, and I can't wait to see them and their son again, either. Oh man, so many different emotions at one time...

Anyways... To break it down, he will be home in:
25 months... or 106 weeks... or 759 days... or 18227 hours... or 1093640 minutes... OR 65618434 seconds, LOL! I think I prefer to count in days :) Side note: I did not figure these out on my own, I used an online countdown calculator!

Hobbies, I need them! I am going to unpack my sewing machine and get back to practicing my straight lines again :) Maybe I can start organizing the bedroom... or painting or something, too? Wish me luck... maybe I'll even blog more regularly!

BTW: I finally heard from Matt, he is in Japan... safe and sound... just a little jet-lagged and feelin' a little tired and goofy :) Keep him in your prayers while he adjusts and acclimates to all these changes!

Happy Anniversary

Happy Anniversary, Babe! :)

Yesterday was Matt and I's second anniversary... and I HAVE to say, I am so lucky to be able to call him my husband... He is my best friend, and I can ALWAYS count on him for anything that I need. Granted, its not always easy, I know that we can make it through anything. The last two years has been life changing for both of us, and I love it! :) We have been able to depend on each other, need each other, want each other, and simply enjoy each other without the distraction of our old friends or family, we have learned to lived together and to appreciate each other for the people that we have grown to be. It is very exciting that Matt and I FIRST dated a little over 6 years ago, and even after all this time, we STILL love each other and can grow together.

I can't wait for Matt to come home from Japan, but for now I'm just enjoying him... he's still here right now, he was supposed to leave a couple days ago, but he extended his leave until Sept. 15 so we get an extra 3 weeks!

Ah, this last 2 years flew by, and I hope the next two do, too. When Matt comes home we will be married for FOUR years, COLY COW :)

I love you, Matthew! We found out that Matt is being stationed in Atsugi, Japan for a little over two years... And I can't go with him. His orders are unaccompanied, meaning no dependents can go, we decided that it would be best if I moved back to Buckeye, to try to make this journey a little bit easier on me. I loved my job in Hanford, and had a lot of friends, but nothing compares to being close to the people that I grew up with, and I can't stand being away from my family.

I moved home a couple weeks ago, I got here on July 22nd. I am living downtown, and absolutely love it. The house is tiny, just 2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom... perfect for our situation. JC is going to school and will live in the 2nd bedroom, when he isn't on campus, which has been awesome so far because he's always there to keep me company!

I thought that the transition to living back at home would be very easy and exciting... but I've noticed that because Matt is not here yet that it feels lonely, and even though my best friend and my family is here, I long to be near him. I've even found myself feeling slightly jealous that he is still in Lemoore, and then I find myself almost jealous of Emma and Richie because they've been able to spend the last two weeks with him (that is where Matt has been staying) and I haven't. I never thought that I would be anything but HAPPY to be home, but its been kind of an emotional roller coaster, with extreme happy feelings, and extreme sad feelings. I love being here, but I with that Matt was with me, and I wish I didn't have to face him leaving. Two years is a really REALLY long time, and we don't know when or IF he'll even be able to come home during this time. I am hoping that I will be able to travel to Japan and visit him while he is on shore, but who knows when that will be...

Matt is going to be here tomorrow... and I am so excited... He is my best friend, and I love spending time with him... I'm happy to know that we have the next month to do whatever our little hearts desire! I know that this set of orders is going to make our marriage even stronger than it already is and I am so excited for Oct. 2012 to be here so we can settle down and be a "normal" family again. I love the military lifestyle and it has been very good to us so far, but I will be happy to be civilians again. I have learned to appreciate my family and friends, and have most definitely learned who really cares... I have learned to appreciate this beautiful country that we live in and all the freedoms that we have... and most of all the work that these men and women serving in the military give up to do their job. I mean, look at us, we're giving up two years together for Matt's service and I feel like we've got it easier than other families.

All in all, life is good... not easy, but very good. I am blessed to be surrounded by people that love me and a husband that is so faithful... let the journey begin!

Hopefully the blogging will get to be more active and I will have a way to vent over the next couple years! :)

Nada New

There really isn't a whole lot going on with us... we've both been working like crazy... and because of our hours we hardly ever see each other- so that is very trying at times...

We got to spend Thanksgiving in Buckeye, and that was so nice! I love being able to spend time with our families... I started work, Its amazing. The perfect job for me. I pretty much just sit at a desk all day doing various things on the computer. Monday thru Friday, 8:30-5. Yay! Its been nice having the extra money, too. Of course!

2. My nephew Tylor came to visit us... It was so much fun! He's such a good kid, and so cute! We went to the pool, down the the hanger [[even up on a jet!]], out to eat, he got to play XBOX and eat junk food- so that alone made him happy! He adored the animals and even fed them everyday. He was here for about 17 days, I think we might just have to make it an annual visit until Matt gets outta the navy!

3. Josh and Chelsey came to visit us while Tiger Paw was here... It was so nice to be able to spend some time with them. This was the first time we'd seen them since the wedding and that was about 10 months ago! I felt like I was in HS again, it was so fun! Oh AAAND when they left here they headed up to Tahoe and are now officially engaged, yay! Congratulations to the soon to be Capps!

4. My Parents came up to visit us for 4th of July. I was SOOO EXCITED to be able to see them! They got here on Friday when I got off work and the five of us [Me, Matt, Tylor and My Mom & Dad] went to dinner, then Saturday morning we got up nice and early and headed up to Monte Ray- Its so beautiful there! We got to go to the aquarium- world famous- so cool! I got a decent amount of pictures from our trip, too... but the camera's dead and I haven't uploaded them yet =( Anyways... on Sunday we went to downtown Hanford and went to the antique shops and had lunch... then went to the casino for the evening =) We only lost like $30- not bad at all!

5. Matt dad sent a couple boxes of stuff up to Matt and his contract with the Navy was in there... Matt was flipping thru it and just so happened to notice that apparently his contract started when he first signed up, not when he left for bootcamp... so that means we'll be home in MAY 2012 instead of OCTOBER, YAY!!

Anyways... on Monday I was back to work and Matt, Tylor & my parents were off to AZ so I've been home alone since... I've def been good about keeping myself busy, but I can't wait for my hubby to come home, Its lonely around here without him! All in all things are going really good around here =)

Daddy

Happy Fathers Day, Dad!

My dad is just the most amazing man I've ever known. He's always been the best dad, role model and friend to both me and my brother... and now that Matt and I are married, he's more than accepted him- He really considers Matt to be part of the family- I loooove that! I've definitely noticed more now than ever before that my dad can pretty much to ANYTHING- literally! Things that Matt and I don't know or don't know how to do- I always call my dad and he pretty much ALWAYS has an answer for me... its usually the right answer too! I know that I am so lucky to be able to call MY dad DAD! =) He's the best there is and that's all there is to it!!

One more week!

I found out today that I will actually be starting at the hospital next Monday. I have an appointment with Employee Health on Friday to get my TB test and that will be checked first thing Monday morning, then I will fill out my paperwork with Human Resources and go straight to work when that stuff is finished up. I'm really excited to start working again- Matt and I have gone over our finances and figured everything out, I think things are going to work out really good for us. PLUS it'll be nice to have that extra pay check EVERY Friday- we're DEF. not used to that, AT ALL! I can't wait to order from ABC Distributing, go shopping, get Matt's truck running, and so much other stuff that's been on hold for a while! Ah, I'm so excited!

There are a couple other exciting things coming up pretty fast for us, My nephew Tylor flies in on Friday- which we just can't wait for! He's such a good kid... and he's 10 so that's the perfect age to be able to go hiking, camping, fishing, and swimming! I'm hoping we'll get to go over to the beach too, but I dunno what our plans are yet. I start work on Monday, Matt is having surgery next Tues & this should be the FINAL one! They're doing a bone graft from his hip and pinning everything together... once it's healed we shouldn't have any more problems, I can't wait for it to be taken care of. Then my parents are coming up for 4th of July =) The casino that is about 15 minutes away does fireworks and stuff and I saw in the paper today that there's a parade and stuff down town- I think those will both be really fun for us to do with my parents and with Tylor & finally when my parents head back to AZ they are going to be taking Matthew and Ty with them... Matt will be in AZ for 8 days without me. I'm kinda bummed that I don't get to go and that we don't get to have this vacation together like we had planned, but it's much more important to us for me to have this job... and that means no vacay for a year- geesh! lol. I'm really excited that he's going to get to see the fam and go out with everyone tho, even if I can't be there.

Today has actually been a productive day, the house is pretty clean, I went to the Post Office to send out our Fathers Day cards & called the bank and got our 2nd checking account open... I still have to go to the hospital to pick up prescriptions but other than that I'm gonna be lazy... CMA's are on! I loooooove ANY Country Music Awards so I'm really excited to watch them tonight...

This is all for now! Ladies and Gentlemen- I finally got a job! A J-O-B. I got one! YAY! I was pretty bummed out when I went in for an interview last Monday at the Liberty Center [[kind of like a "rec center" for single sailors]] and never got the call back... I didn't get the job. On Friday I was just waiting for my best friend, Sam and her little girl, Sophia to get here when at 11 am I get a phone call from a temp agency that I got on with a couple months ago and they say they think they might have something for me... I could have the interview if I could be there by 1:30... So- I jumped in the shower, got dressed, put on my make up, did my hair, steamed my business suit and headed into Hanford. The interview was for the position of the receptionist for the purchasing dept for the local hospital and it went SOOOO good! I honestly felt like I already worked there. At about 4 PM I got a call back setting up a second interview for this morning [[Monday]] which also went AWESOME and got the call at about 5 PM tonight that the job was mine. I'm so excited, I'm going to be working from 8:30-5, Monday thru Friday- How perfect is that?! One draw back- NO VACATION... AT ALL! NONE! So that's pretty disappointing, especially since we were gonna be going home after Matt's surgery [[on June 23rd]] for a week or so aaaaand now I can't go, BUT I do know that in the long run this is what's right for us. I can't wait to get our debt paid off, it shouldn't take very long, AT ALL... and I can't wait to start saving some monay =) Finally! Anyways, I should be starting in the middle of next week. I have to wait for my background check to clear and when that happens I have to go in for my TB test- that takes two days, and when that comes back good- I'll start that day. We're thinking probably Wednesday or Thursday of next week. YAY! AND my mom called me tonight to let me know that she was going to be sending me a check and buying me all new work clothes, how awesome is that?! I told her she didn't have to do anything like that and she insisted! Ah, it'll be so nice to go clothes shopping, its been too long!

Sam and Sophia came up and spent the weekend with us... It was so nice to have them here. I'm so blessed to have both of them in my life- I don't know what I would do without Sam. She is seriously the best friend anyone could ever ask for. We didn't do anything crazy or super exciting, but the weekend was perfect. We just hung out on Friday, but on Saturday Matt, Sam, Sophie, & I went out for lunch [[mmmmmmmm! mexican food!]] then came back to base so the baby could take a nap, then us girls went to down town Hanford and walked around. I love all the thrift stores, clothing boutiques & antique shops... its so cute down there- it reminds me of Prescott! Aaaand on the way home we got everything we needed to make sundaes and then ordered pizza for dinner =) OOOOOH, AND- Sam brought Matt and I chimi's from our favorite restaurant at home [[Tony's]] And they were just absolutely AMAZING, yuuuummmmy!

Anyways, Just a quick little update =) Things have just been great lately! I can't wait to start working... omg, I don't even know what it feels like to work anymore- Its honestly been about a year since I truely worked full time.... geeeesh!

I'm outta here for now! Love to those of you reading this because you care! It was so nice to get out of Lemoore, it really felt like a vacation, even tho we only spent the day away. We laid out [[it was freeeeezing, like 54 degrees!]], walked thru all the shops along the coastline, had lunch at a cute little restaurant, got ice cream and just ENJOYED every second of our girls day! I don't even think it took us 2 hours to get there- 2 hours in a car with 3 other women goes by pretty fast, we're all easily entertained =) Here are a couple pictures:

This is Me and Emma... I can't even tell you how lucky I am to be blessed with the parents I have... I'm so thankful for both of them. I never realized how much my mom did everyday, or how much I was like her until I got married and moved out of her house... I don't know how she did it when I was growing up. Personally I feel like just keeping the house clean, cooking, doing laundry, taking care of the animals and my husband is a full time job... she did all that plus had JC and I AND a full time job! She really did teach me how to be a good wife to my husband, how to take care of him and the house, even if it doesn't come quite as naturally to me as it always seemed to come to her. Wierd similarities between me and my mom: 1.) I love having the house vaccuumed, I like when you can see the lines on the floor 2.) I can't relax until the kitchen is clean 3.) Cats <3 4.) I love country decor 5.) flannel pj bottoms... and these are just a couple examples- which I never noticed before! We only live about 9 hours away, but its just too far to make the trip for just a weekend so we've only been home 3 or 4 times since I moved here in September... which def isn't enough! I miss my family so much! I probably talk to my mom on the phone everyday... if not everyday then 5 or 6 days a week, seriously! She's always there for Matt and I anytime we need anything, her and my dad- both! I just want to say again that I am so blessed with my parents and I thank God for giving them to me, or giving me to them- I guess =) I love you, Mom! Happy Mothers Day!

Short and Sweet... Just like my mom!

When I become a Mama [[in a couple years...]] I hope I can be as good as my Mama always was, and is!

Dr Dr Dr... Military Wifeys

The past week has been full of Dr's appts... Monday Matthew had his wisdom teeth pulled. Wed. I went to the Dr. for my ear, which has been an on going ear ache for about 6 months... Apparently I "have alergies" I've NEVER had alergies before in my life, I must be alergic to Lemoore! I mean, that's what its gotta be, right?! AAAAND yesterday we had Matt's 3rd followup appt on his finger, and finally set the date for his next surgery, its set for the end of June.

I just found out what today is... it's Miltary Wife Appreciation Day... Hats off to all the military wives around the world. This lifestyle isn't easy and its not always fun- so here's to you... for coming second to your husbands job, for waiting when he's away, for moving when you're told, for taking the deployments as they come, for having just as much or more pride in your husbands lifestyle, and for simply loving and taking care of your hero everyday! We didn't all want to live like this, but we do and we make the most of it... Most of us probably never intended on growing up to be a military wife, but somehow someway there are thousands of us... I love being part of it, I love being part of the biggest sorority in the world- my life wouldn't be the same without all of my wifey friends. Happy MWAD!

Things have been fairly slow around here lately... not alot of excitement. I put in my application to work at the Liberty Center on base and called to talk to one of the women that work there, she said I would probably hear something in about 2 or 3 weeks! WOO! I'm keeping my fingers crossed... it would be perfect, its only about a 10 minute walk from my doorway and it would be good hours! =)

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://lifewiththefarrs.blogspot.com/2009/05/dr-dr-dr-military-wifeys.html' title='Dr Dr Dr... My car stopped starting altogether so we had to get that taken care of and Matt was switched back to Midcheck [[10PM-8AM]] so we were all thrown off. He's been on days for a month or 2 now and I've been really used to it... I love him being on days and mids sucks so that's no good... anyways, last week he worked day check on monday then worked at night tues, wed, and thurs- on little to no sleep... no joke he went one day one literally 3 and a half hours of sleep, I hate having to change our sleeping schedules! BUUUUT we did get my car fixed on Thurs, it only took about 7 hours... haha! My dad told Matt it was just a connection but he insisted on taking the entire starter out and having it checked, so he did... of course it was fine, the connections just needed to be taken off and put back on =)

Friday night we had a couple of our friends over at our place... nothing too crazy, but it was a good time for sure! So Saturday I slept in, got up, got dressed... FINALLY got Matt up and dressed, went to town and didn't get home untill 2:15 or so and I had to be at my girlfriend Sonya's at 3 for her little girls 2nd birthday... She's SOOOO cute! It was an awesome little party for her too, the kids had a blast playing in the water and eating cupcakes and all that jazz. Matt joined us and 3 couples over there to hang out after the party ended and we had a really good time...When Courtney proceded to tell me that that was "her matt!!!!" she even took it to the point that she scooted me over, then climbed up in his lap, slapped my arms away and told me "NOOOO, that's MY MATTTTTT!!!!" I just told her "Nu Uh. He's mine..." And I kissed him, Oh no- she had it then, she started screaming and grabbed his face and kissed him TWICE! It was absolutely ADORABLE, she just loves him- yea, she told us all that she loves her matt, haha! Anyways, Then Anna & Lee came over to drink for a while... and Today was AWESOME, we slept until noon, cleaned the house, went grocery shopping, then bbq'd- just the 2 of us, and were lazy after dinner...

This is me and Court with the baby Matt and I bought her... So cute!

Matt's at work right now, and I'm being a reality TV buff- I can't help it... I'm addicted! =P

I've made a pact with myself to make May the month I finally get a job... Today I applied at Wamu online and emailed my resume to a Vet Hospital [[Vetrinary not Veteran, haha]] and left a message with a lady that needs an office assistant... Hopefully something will pan out. I'm really hoping to find something on base, but if not anything will work... I want to be completely debt free when Matt gets outta the Navy and that just won't happen without me working... and besides that I'm kinda getting bored and in a funk so I figure its time to get outta the house =) Wish me luck!

TaTa4Now!

First Post

This will be my first post on blogspot... I'm not really new to blogging, but new to blogspot... I've always blogged on Myspace but have decided to try doing it here instead. First of all I'd like to say, I haven't figured out how to play with it, at all! I can't make it look pretty, or edit anything yet... bare with me. AND I want to know how to add my favorite blogs and stuff to a little thing on the edge, but haven't figured that out yet either.

I think pretty much everyone knows that Matt is in the Navy and that we're currently stationed in Lemoore, Ca. Life has truely blessed us with so many things... but today isn't one of those blessings... Matthew is at work now for a full shift, he MIGHT be able to come home to eat, and he's gotta go back to work an eight hour watch, fantastic, huh?! So, that leaves me at home on this absolutely beautiful Saturday... boo! Anways, since apparently I've got the whole day ahead of me, I'm gonna try to figure out how this thing works... if anyone can help me, please do! lol
